Written by Guest Bloggers: Kallie & Kenzie
Have you seen the newest fashion trends at Howe-Manning!? You won’t believe what we’re all wearing these days. There are outfits that clash! There are outfits that you would never even see! We are telling you about the Fashion Disaster Fashion Show.
There were people wearing pants on their heads, socks on their hands, lopsided hair, different holiday attire, and make-up galore! It was phenomenal. We are going to be telling you about what happened and who won. Everything YOU need to know! Some people wore crazy and fashionable outfits! We went down the runway in the classroom! We clapped at everybody that went on the show. Let me tell you, these outfits were out of this world!
Then we wrote about whoever’s outfit we wanted, and pretended to be bloggers! Our task was to persuade other 4th graders why we should win the fashion show and be the newest fashion craze at Howe-Manning. We focused on using colorful and dazzling word choices to bring our posh outfits to life. We learned that you can even find synonyms using Google Tools.

It was super duper cool and fun! You should check it out! And you should buy some of these outfits! You will surely stand out! Who knows you might see these outfits at the mall, school, supermarket or even wedding attire. See you on the runway.

Nonfiction Surgery

Welcome to Howe-Manning Hospital! 4th-grade doctors earned their medical license (nonfiction medical license that is) and performed a day of surgeries. Upon entering Howe-Manning Hospital and Teaching Hospital, medical students took their Medical Board Exam to obtain their surgical license. Medical students needed to apply everything they have been learning about nonfiction text features in order to pass their "exam". After congratulations, handshake and official job offer from the chief of surgery (aka Dr. Klipfel) doctors scrubbed in and dressed for surgery.
Once surgical teams were ready it was time to meet patients, read patient charts to learn their symptoms, and determine a diagnosis. Symptoms included confusion on finding where to locate information in a nonfiction text, complaints of not knowing what sections were about in nonfiction, and even difficulty knowing what words in nonfiction texts meant. Luckily patients were in the right place and doctors were ready to help.
Doctors determined which nonfiction text feature organ patients needed. They prepared organs with scalpels (scissors) and stitched them back up (with bandaids). They then made sure to complete their post-op reports.
Luckily every patient made it through surgery and no doctors suffered any malpractice suits.

Google Slides Stop Motion

Written by Guest Bloggers: Lily & Marino
In Innovation, we have been doing a stop motion project on Google Slides. First, we get an idea of what we want to make it about. Then we get a background and a character. After that, we start duplicating slides. Then we start making the animation come to life! It is really amazing how! You must add your image/character and duplicate the slide, every slide you move the character a bit or make it speak, to make it talk you can use callouts.
The things you can do with Google Slides stop motion. From Mickey Mouse flying into space on a cheese rocket, to Dora the Explorer getting hit with a baseball bat. You can animate anything with this stop motion project. It's just as good as downloading the stop motion app. Oh yeah, how can I forget the audio? With the free audio website, you can get funny and chill audio for your animation. Check one out here:
Maybe you can even give it a try.
